Project Management Audits and Contract Reviews

Construction claims are not the inevitable end product of a construction project. The time and expense of a claim resolution can be greatly reduced, if not eliminated altogether, by careful contract preparation and administration. All parties to the contract must be aware of their rights and responsibilities under the contract. They must also be aware of the major causes of construction disputes and the project documentation necessary to properly evaluate and resolve these disputes.

Your staff can acquire these important preventive skills through WMA's Project Management Audits and Contract Reviews. Our experience in the evaluation and resolution of claims serves as a solid platform from which we can assert the importance of effective project administration and record keeping. Project Management Audits consist of an analysis of the contract documents and preparation of a contract checklist, which is then reviewed with project personnel, to highlight important areas of the contract. Procedures, tools, and a record keeping system are developed, as required, to supplement existing project operations.

Project Management Audits may also involve periodic job site visits by the WMA staff during the course of construction to ensure that project personnel are following the procedures developed during the initial effort. During these periodic visits, WMA will review the schedule status and assist in resolving change orders, disputed work, delays, and other claim-producing problems.
